That leaves Ukraine three options. The first is to rely on Europe stepping in to supply the weapons and equipment it needs. The second – proposed earlier this month by Zelensky – was to buy US made weapons from Washington with European money. The third is to make the weapons it needs in Ukrainian factories, funded by money from European allies.

where is the "total capitulation" option? remarkable how western press is still producing these fantastical articles.

What a load of crap. Moscow wants to prevent Ukraine from joining the NATO. Nobody is going to Russify Ukraine beyond replacing its current government with one that is more pro-Russian. Get over yourself.

Sovereign? Why do liberals keep saying this word in the context of ukraine? Its not only wrong, but also, I don't see how its relevant. But maybe it means something else to libs. Maybe it means "ruled by 'whites'" again...

Sovereign means signing a mineral deal for nearly all of your natural resources in exchange for dwindling material support after you genocided too many russian-speakers and the neighboring country of the same ethnicity had to intervene.

Sounds like they gave that up when they decided to become a Nazi state dedicated to being a proxy for the imperialist west.

Russia doesn't particularly want Ukraine either. Just the shoreline to make Transnistria survivable and Kharkov for Moscow's safety. Ideally. I'm not even sure the shitlibs in Kremlin think that way.
