Actually, recently I learned that setting the tree species (or at least genus) can be very useful to some people: https://lemmy.ml/post/31772921

Oh ! I would love to do this. I'm learning how to recognised tree and I love foraging. I guess I have to step up my openstreetmap game and stop reliying solely on StreetComplete.

SCEE (StreetComplete expert edition) is available with additional quests (especially for those with domain knowledge) and customization for experienced mappers. It includes a quest "What is the genus or species of this tree?" among others. Please see its FAQ.

have a look at https://mapcomplete.org/trees - you can add pictures and it has plantnet.org integrated to recognize tree species automatically

That's very good. I was able to add already a few trees from home without downloading anything. I like it.

Plantnet is nice. I'm already familiar with it. Which is great.

Thank you very much.
