Norwegian and Danish grocery store "Rema 1000" has their own store brand that's very minimalistic: https://shop.rema1000.dk/?filters=rema1000
It's just the text saying what it is and a little picture and not much else.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is pretty normal outside USA.

They stock really good røkt laks. Used to know someone who worked in Norway and used to bring it sometimes.

It's exactly what you think, it's a word that's stuck around for imported good from "the colonies". But to be fair, if you live in Denmark it doesn't take a lot for something to be exotic.

Yeah, I noticed. There's rice and asian cuisine, but also there's "digestives", the british biscuits. And both popcorn and regular canned corn. A very broad selection.

Sweden had the ”blue white” brand for low price products. There wasn’t even an image on the boxes.
