I forgot you were supporting Madrid! What do you think about Xabi Alonso so far in the CWC?
Honestly I'm a lil surprised. I was very certain that the general structure under Carlo would continue. Might change the buildup structure and patterns, maybe minutely change the positions of players. The pace of play and movement. But instead he has copy pasted the Leverkusen blueprint. Atleast in this last game.
The first 2 games were more Carlo like. But the third was more in his image.
A 5 at the back felt impossible to me at Madrid. We've seen it now. Although I still think it'll only be against a more high pressing and attacking team. 3 at the back systems are considered un Madrid like. Infact the major reason me and many castilla fans felt Raul's time was up was his insistence of the 3 atb.
Incredibly impressed by the strides made in literally 2 weeks or so. The team has drastically changed their automatisms.
Even Courtois is suddenly a more aggressive keeper in his positioning.
The team depth is built for a 4231 like structure. Whatever the roles there may be is a secondary matter. But a lot of front footed attacking third players. Similarly high work rate and stamina based runners in midfield.
Now I do expect an outgoing or two. Unfortunately rodrygo looks likely to me. And I just know we won't get good enough money for him. Like 90m when hes a 130m player atleast
Interesting, thanks! Really curious to see what the next season will look like, it seems promising for sure.
