Same in the 80s. We made pretty songs like "We are the world" and sent fucktons of rice to Africa that rot because dictators wanted to keep it. Fun times.

There was a liberating moment when I learned that just feeling awful was not an effective way to stop wars.

If I hear that, I show the stupidity by doing the opposite:

How can you be happy? There are people getting married today, they are much happier!

.Yeah yeah, not all who marry are happy, you get the point
