I like how DDG handles AI. It's neither pretending it's some sort of demon, nor forcing it down your throat - it's simply up to each individual if, when, and how they use it.
This is a good example of that. I don't mind generating a few AI pics by myself. But if I'm looking for internet content I don't want your poorly generated AI slop.
AI is just like any other tool. You wouldn’t want to use a hammer for a screw. For me, it’s the tool I reach for if no other tool can reasonably do the job or if it specifically does not require precision. It throws me off the way people started treating AI like it’s a replacement for the tools it emulates.
DDG is actually amazing for letting you use multiple AI models for free without the monetization of user input that others do. I'm a frequent user.
