I know the EA app has been a huge pain in the ass for deckers, but I'm hoping this part is easier to deal with.

I currently have no problems running the app itself (for now). But I don't think this issue is directly related.

I'm trying to play "A Way Out" with someone, and it launches fine (but does look squished like the resolution is wrong even after changing it - nevermind seeing it to "windowed" or "borderless windowed" fixed that as I was typing this). The issue is I can't seem to get the friends past to work to invite or accept invites. The friends UI is just great rounded rectangles that I can't click on or interact with. All I can do is press escape to go back to the main menu.

Any ideas? I don't even have a guess what causes this. For what it's worth, the EA app itself does the same thing on the right side. Looks very similar to how it does in game.

According to protondb, you need to replace the EA app with origin.

Check the second review by "L4ZaRu5", it has a guide.

This process is either broken or incomplete. After following those directions, adding the steam launch pretty l prefix prevents the game from launching.

Leaving it out does bring up a "connecting to origin..." prompt when launching, but it doesn't progress beyond that.

I tried under the 2 most recent versions of Proton, 2 most recent GE releases, Hotfix, and Experimental. None of them launch at all with and without that prefix.

None of them launch at all with the prefix, and none get past the Origin connection without it.

Ok so origin is apparently being killed off in two weeks, and they've already started killing the origin APIs

People with it installed already are able to get some games to work still, but functionality is now broken and the devs aren't going to try to fix it since origin is supposed to die soon anyways. So I'm not sure what the way to play origin game with friends is now.

TheWINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%'launch option is necessary, so we'll need to troubleshoot that. I'll look into it and see if I can figure out what's going on.
