It really is. I think it comes less from them wanting them to be attractive and more that artists tend to just develop a particular "style" with how they draw people, and a lot of the "superstar artists" of the 90s basically only had like 1-2 body types they could draw for men, and only 1 for women. And because the biggest names in the industry would always draw women like that, all the other artists would emulate them.
