I never got the hate over this. I agree that "pay this company $3 because some guy made a funny joke" doesn't make a ton of sense, but the 2(?) times someone got me gold, I said thank you.. just feels like acknowledging a compliment.
A long, long time ago, I made an exception on my Adblocker for Reddit, since their ads were specifically unobtrusive and I liked the site a lot.
Gold made the ads go away while still supporting the site. I got so much ad-free browsing because of dick jokes.
Yup. I was the same way. I also wanted to see what the lounge was all about, until the first time I got gold and saw it was just a circle jerk about... Getting gold. Dunno what I expected.
I once had a post that got significantly downvoted and I didn’t delete it.
Multiple times I've had the most heavily downvoted posts in a given community. Maybe I shouldn't brag about that? 😉
But once I also had the most heavily upvoted too, so... it kinda just is what it is, at the end of the day? 😯
