Are Google Photos/videos stored in Google Drive? (piefed.zip)

I am attempting to transfer all of my data from my Google Drive to my local NAS. If I copy all of the files from drive, does that get everything from Google Photos?

If I remember correctly you can do 2 things, there is the takeout option or you can sync the files from drive to a system where you can just copy paste. I don’t think the files are on drive but are a separate system.

I also remember that the metadata got screwed in my case, which ment some work
