Meat eater here. Animals aren't a fucking object. Lemme just get that straight.
I eat meat, I love meat, I'd probably try deer hunting if I wasn't such a pussy (meow :3). But I feel as though what separates me from most other people is that I DEEPLY cherish the things nature gives to me, from the flesh of prey animals down to the Poke plants that grow outta my backyard. I'm more than thankful for their sacrifice.
If I was a meat farmer. I would love every single fucking one of my cattle, I truly would. I would strive EVERY single day to give them the best possible life for them. Knowing they will one day be put to rest for their resources, it's only morally right to ME that I make sure every waking day they spend on this earth is the best. I probably would produce much, but I'm fine with that. I'm just glad I was able to give them a good life.
The animals I feed upon are not just "prey" they are a gift from the earth itself. I dont believe it's helpful for a human to deprive themselves of meat altogether, We were made to consume plants and animals, no different from other apex predators. But what matters most to me is people respecting the earth and the animals that feed and provide for us. To act as though we are above them, that they are nothing to us, to kill them with no regard or remorse, and to waste their flesh is barbaric, it's disrespectful.
idk, I think I read way too deeply into that Circle of Life speech from Lion King 🤪
Of course not, and even many objects should, at least in my opinion, be treated with some respect. I mostly agree with what you've written here.
In my opinion, it is precisely because we are above them that we (or at least many of us) abhor unnecessary suffering and waste. The wolf however does not care when it slaughters a whole herd of sheep to eat just their livers and leave the rest to rot, neither does it hesitate to kill the zookeeper that has fed it for a decade when they slip up for just a moment.
