Seems like the interests of people living in Europe are the last thing on the minds of the apparatchiks running the EU.

You mean Europeans or people living in Europe, like russians? Anyway, maybe these "chiks" should see how imperials like Americans or terrorussians do it - take care of the interests of their own people.
