I've never personally seen a gaggle of 18-40-year-old star trek fans explaining unironically how the Borg did nothing wrong.
Empire did nothing wrong is such a fascinating joke. Because it was and mostly today still IS a joke. An obvious one. They are the baddies. But then we entered a political moment where it people started sliding into the sub that were doing it in earnest.
See also prequelmemes which started off as a subreddit dedicated to making fun of and dunking on the prequels and overtime became a place where people would honestly defend.
