Imagine you're a musician and you don't know any more about international politics than anyone else. Which is normally fine, you're just there to play music, who cares what your stance is on some controversial issue that has nothing to do with music?

Then a hate group creates a scenario where you're required to "take a side" on a complex issue. What do you do?

If you have the money Ed Sheeran has ,you hire some people to write up a statement to address the issue in the hopes you can go back to playing music which is what you want to do.

Of course your statement will never be enough to satisfy the hate group. The whole point of a hate group is to hate people, and once you're a target of that hate group you will always be a target.

How does hating Ed Sheeran help Palestinians? It doesn't. That doesn't matter because helping Palestinians isn't the goal of the "Free Palestine" movement anymore. The point of the "Free Palestine" movement is to express hatred towards anyone the group targets. It's a fascist hate movement and a movements like these need to occasionally demonstrate their power so those that are a part of it can feel powerful themselves.

This is the attitude of someone who feels confident that their movement is strong and can destroy the people it targets. Don't you feel strong and powerful because you're part of a movement that will move in lock step when targeting individuals? This is the nature of fascism.
