Ever since I learned about the Dubai porta-potty I lost what little respect I had for influencers traveling to Dubai.

[–] gh0stb4tz@lemmy.world 37 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Now I’m curious, but I don’t want to look it up.

[–] searabbit@piefed.social 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's exactly what you're imagining, yes, even that.

Smells bad because the chemicals can't keep up with the heat?

Dang. Gross.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 31 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

Dubai porta-potty

I looked this up and between this and the Epstein Island stuff ... like is regular sex just not enough for people?

Also, why can't filthy rich people use their money to help others ...

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 39 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Because the kind of brain that thinks "I deserve all this money" is broken, and not even close to resembling the brain that thinks "I should use the extra money I have to help others"

The two things are incompatible. Shit, I wouldn't even feel comfortable showing my face to employees who don't earn close to what I take. I'd be too ashamed that I'm essentially stealing from them since I'm not doing to work of 20 people (let alone 150,000) by myself.

The brain that doesn't have that shame doesn't even think about others, unless it's in the context of "how can I exploit this"

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 weeks ago

But Elon Musk is going to pay the TSA himself. 🍆🍆🍆

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

By divine right it’s theirs. That’s just how it is. They’re winners, there has to be losers, sucks to be you.

They really don’t invest much thought into it. They can’t.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Because they are sociopaths. You and I would never get to the status of filthy rich because we would start giving money away before that.

[–] Xerxos@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I think part of the problem is that the brain is never content with what it has. It becomes the new normal instead of luxuries.

Think about the a rich man, sleeping with beautiful women all the time - either escorts or gold diggers.

It becomes the new normal. He wants more. In what direction this want will go probably differs from person to person. There will be excess, perversion, cruelty, until that is the new normal. Getting more and more depraved. Limited only by that persons conscience and what he can get away with.

And for a sociopath and billionaire? There are are no limits, no crime he can't commit, no foul act he won't try. Torture. Children. Murder. Cannibalism. These people have been above the law for too long.

It isn't just the sex. It is a power thing.

[–] seejur@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

They are basically the dark eldars of our time

[–] flamingo_pinyata@sopuli.xyz 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm still unclear if this is a real thing or an urban legend. Sure prostitution is one of the main economic activities in Dubai, and I'm sure many cater to very specific fetishes. But is it like a real thing that happens regularly?

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 23 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh look. The mega wealthy brutalizing people when they calculate they can get away with it.

Who could have guessed that was a universal trait

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

Ukrainian, invited to a party of rich Russians.

Not victim blaming as she for sure didn't deserve to have the shit beaten out of her but wtf?

[–] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Just looked it up.

These are soulless monsters who can have literally everything but since nothing satisfies them anymore they wish to hurt and degrade others for the thrill of it.

[–] wieson@feddit.org 6 points 2 weeks ago

I thought we were talking about the fact that Dubai doesn't have a functioning sewage system and has to get the shite out via lorry.

But this is on a whole nother level.

[–] obey@lemmy.wtf 3 points 1 week ago

Yes yes like trump and epstein gang

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 38 points 2 weeks ago

There is no war in Dubai Sing Se

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

As someone who grew up in Dubai you have no idea how much schadenfreude I am feeling right now!

[–] Beep@lemmus.org 18 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

In case someone does not know what does the word mean.

Schadenfreude: The experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of the troubles, failures, pain, suffering, or humiliation of another. Schadenfreude is a loanword from German. The closest word in English would be gloat. Schadenfreude has been detected in children as young as 24 months and may be an important social emotion establishing "inequity aversion".

[–] RustyShackleford@programming.dev 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The Dutch word for it is "leedvermaak", incidentally.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Leedvermaak: the experience of joy or satisfaction at someone else's pain or displeasure, but whilst standing on/near a dike/dam/floodgate.

[–] RustyShackleford@programming.dev 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Precies. Ik vind het heerlijke.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

God I love Dutch.

You look at it, and you think, if I stare at this long enough, I can make it out. Most of the words are about the same size, and there has to be some Latin bases here and there...

nope...

[–] RustyShackleford@programming.dev 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Hehe, I'm married to a Dutch woman. I'm an American of non-European descent, for context.

I speak Gujarati and Spanish and a smidge of Hindi and Japanese, other than English. She speaks Dutch, Danish, German, and English.

When I moved to the Netherlands, I told her "We both know something about languages. I have to say this: speaking Dutch is like speaking German while spitting out your teeth after someone punched you in the mouth."

"Jazeker!"

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Oh, I've never seen a picture of Violet08

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't think you will. It's possible she's not even a woman. Or it's very possible that she looks nowhere near how she proclaims to look. Either way it's a fun account to watch.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Personally I choose to believe violet08 is a robotic cat, and simply pretending to be a woman in hornyposting mode because they enjoy trolling.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

nah i say violet08 is a hyperintelligent octopus at an aquarium sneaking out of her tank to hornypost at us when the aquarium wardens aren't looking

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I should have added a /s - that's the joke. She had mentioned living in the Gulf at some point, and is influential here, ergo she's an "influencer in Dubai" maybe, from our perspective.

[–] Beep@lemmus.org 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That's not a picture.

This is a GIF.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

[–] Whimsical418@aussie.zone 33 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF...) is a bitmap image format...

Hmmm... I guess its an image, but not a picture 🤔

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Pronounced "if" the g is silent.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago

Real gifs move in silence like lasagna.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

It's an image, with extra steps.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This is several pictures. I saw them all. A guy came up to me, big guy, strong guy, tears in his eyes, and says "Sir, I've never seen all the pictures in the GIF. I'm glad you saw them for me." I'm a super picture-seer, the likes of which have never been seen before. I refer to every frame of the GIF as a picture because I'm also a four-dimensional time god.

Dude, he already said he is green.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe me, maybe me and the Iyatolah.

[–] tackleberry@thelemmy.club 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You do realise a number of these Arab family monarchial figures are criminally indicted in the Epstein case

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, and they, not the enslaved migrant workers, should be subject to the drone boomers.

And by boomers I mean the flying things that go ka-boom on impact.
