I started growing my hair out before I got sick, and then wanted to get a cut last year but, yknow, everything happened lol.

Anyway since I'm doing better at the moment I'm ready to go get one but all stylists use an online appointment scheduling thingy and you have to select your cut there.

I assume men's haircut is fine, but just wanted to make sure. Is it enough time? Are they going to complain because my hair is long? It's not super long, upper back length something like that. I want to bring it back to a convenient chin-shoulder length.

I think I'm just gonna take a mens haircut and let them deal with it lol. It should be enough time for a basic cut.

But also happy to hear some tips if you have cool long hair advice to share.

They'll prefer long hair actually you can't do shit with short hair

Go to someone that knows what they're doing though bc at that length you can easily look like Anton Chigurgh. I would book at a good salon that does women's cuts and tell them you want it layered.

I had my hair that way for a while but getting good cuts is really expensive and I eventually ended up looking like a foot soldier for Henry V through the cumulative efforts of 2nd tier salon visits. Ended up back at a barber. Long hair is fun but expensive to maintain I guess

That's good, right?! Right?!

This system seems similar to the hairdresser that I go to. The type of haircut chosen on the website is what you have now as it gives the stylist a timeframe of how long it’s going to take. I have been told to choose the level that is higher than what I have just to give more time if needed. It also depends on whether you are just doing minor maintenance or a full style blowout thing. Considering you’re cutting off quite a bit then maybe taking the higher “level” will help.

If they get mad at your length then it is kind of their fault for stating “men’s haircut” on the site.

That's exactly it, you don't select the actual style that you want, but based on how long your hair is (for womens cuts) or if you want additional treatments that all have non-descriptive names lol.

You're right, I just picked the one mens haircut option they have and they'll deal with it lol

I just tell the hairdresser to trim it once it passes the shoulders as it grows naturally. It looks just about the same as Keanu Reeves' but completely straight and a bit longer.

Haircut appointments? That are online? Where you have to choose your style in advance?? That's wild. I just walk in to the salon and tell the lady what I vaguely want when I'm already in the chair.

You can't stop progress lol, if you don't know exactly what you want beforehand good luck i guess!

Is your hair curly? If so see if you can find a dry curly cut place near you and do that. It'll be expensive but if it's something you can afford it'll be well worth it

It's dumb that salons gender haircuts to indicate length. My stylist's salon does this too. I signed up for male haircuts for months. However, they eventually told me to sign up for woman's cuts so that they could better organize their time, so that's what I do now. They charge me the male price still, which is cheaper.

I would just keep signing up for male cuts until they tell you otherwise.

If you have long hair and want it to have nice looking long hair you have to go to a hairdresser, not a barbershop and pay quite a bit more. Everytime I have gone to a barbershop they fuck me up or dont know what to do because they don't know how to deal with long hair.

It also heavily depends on what your hair type is. I have about 2A hair and I based my cut off this guy: https://www.instagram.com/p/ChCjHYSuTdt/. If your hair is on the less wavy and flatter side you can ask me but otherwise I'm clueless.
