While I mostly agree, one of my counterpoints is stuff where they describe what something looks like for 4 or so pages. I'm simply not gonna read it, full stop, no exception. Stuff like that is not challenging, it's boring.

Maybe that's the point of including those then, to exercise the part of your brain that keeps trying to shut itself down when you read those.

Not really, I have a medical condition where I can't imagine anything in my mind, those things literally don't and can't do anything for me.

I'm my mind that's like arguing that exercises for arms are pointless but not mentioning you were born with no arms. It's misleading to say you don't like part of their list but not mention that you have a personal situation that makes you incompatible with it.

Did I somehow mislead anyone to believe I was stating objective truths? I was simply stating my opinion and one part I personally disagree with in the otherwise great article.

Oookay.. I'll quote you if that will make you feel better...

That was a pretty absolute sounding statement. And then when I pointed out that maybe it's to practice being able to get through that kind of text, you pointed out that you have aphantasia and your brain doesn't do that. Which is fine, but you said "it wasn't challenging, it's boring" instead of saying you have a mental condition.

And now you are all defensive and it's just weird, so I'm gonna go. But if I'm the future you say what you mean instead of not what you mean, it may be received better.

Eh, you're the only one having weird issues with my opinions, so I'm gonna continue stating my opinions as I always did.

The Odyssey? Are you fucking kidding me?

[–] thebigslime@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I read most of Homer's Odyssey my sophomore year of high school. My teacher had us skip some chapters for some reason. It's plenty readable at that age, translation depending.

Should include State and Revolution by Lenin, Mutual Aid a Factor of Evolution by Kropotkin, Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Friere, Palo Alto by Malcolm Harris, Debt The First 5000 Years by Graeber, and Capitalist Realism by Fisher.
