This now makes me wonder: is there a QR generator that maps out a grid of numbers and letters to help you draw it manually on graph paper with paper or pen or marker? That'd be kinda fun to use with this and completely baffle people in the wild by leaving literally E2E-encrypted messages for friends in public areas lolll.

Kleopatra has worked just fine for me though...

It can be a barier to entry for new / non-technical users. In the past when I've worked with activism groups to setup secure comms Kleopatra has been difficult for people unfamiliar with encryption to figure out. It's always good to lower the barrier to entry for these kinds if applications.

Really? Kleopatra was such a pain for me to figure out. We want normies using this stuff, not just computer programmers.

It took me a few minutes of messing around with it to understand how it works, but once I did, it became very easy for what I was using it for. I am not a programmer.

Mostly just copy/pasting onto the scratch board, then choosing which key to use to decrypt (or encrypt), then copying the results.

Adding a new public key by copying it and adding it from the clipboard was also very easy.

Okay, well you're smarter than the general populace because I've read multiple comments online about how difficult this program is to use, so I know I'm not alone. Any competition is better than none.

Whats wrong with kleopatra?

[–] Dymonika@beehaw.org 1 points 1 week ago

It's painful to use and understand? There is no step-by-step process...
