growing up so many adults tried to teach us that animals had no real cognitive ability and were all running on instinct. Even studies like the mirror one cracked me up. Yeah no shit that the animals that scored highest are ones where vision is high end sense. I was like yeah and the alien dog species would give us a series of blankets and show we were not sapient because we randomly chose one rather than recognizing the ones with our mothers scent.
