Show some respect to our God and saviour Lemmy Kilmister!
(Yeah I had to Google his last name)
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Show some respect to our God and saviour Lemmy Kilmister!

The Motorhead guy.
Ugh.
It is already my top result
What's this Motorhead person?
Also as soon as the search engines start picking it up Lemmy is going to start growing like crazy again
Lemmy gold for you.
The King in Yellow himself. He isn't dead, he just went home.
That "Motorhead guy" was Lemmy Kilmister and he played rock and roll.
the Motorhead guy was a living legend
he'll be the biggest Lemmy for at least another generation
Maybe the Lemmy founders should have called it MilliVanilli.
Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?
trick question!
LEMMY IS GOD
"God Was Never On Your Side" hits differently, now.
Ace of Spades - Motörhead
pure and hardcore energy
rock and roll in it's true form
God wouldn’t turn up.
That would actually be a funny show:
Live Event, One Day Only, Man Vs God
Get the announcers to hype the crowd up and talk about historic matches of the past, ask the crowd to cheer if God is the greatest arm wrestler of all time. Ask them to cheer if Manny Mann can beat God.
15 minutes pass and the Referee calls it, Man wins by default as god didn't show. Man defeated God.
Maybe if we post news about Lemmy on Lemmy, it will turn more Lemmy fans into Lemmy fans?
I'm a Lemmy fan and I'm posting on lemmy, so I'm all for posting more about Lemmy on lemmy.
Yo dawg, I heard you liked Lemmy in your Lemmy....
I don't know if you mean turn Lemmy fans into lemmy fans, or lemmy fans into Lemmy fans. But either way, I'm for it.

Lemmy was born Ian Fraser Kilmister [...]
One of the only thing I miss about Reddit was their very active Guitar subs. So I Googled Lemmy Guitar to search for some active forums, and was disappointed that all I got were Lemmy Motorhead links.
If anybody knows any active guitar forums on Lemmy, please let me know. The only ones I found are extremely quiet, with days, weeks, or even months between posts. I can't be the only guitarist on Lemmy, so where are they all hanging out?
!guitarporn@sfw.community exists, though it's not exactly bursting with activity (yet). I've tried to put some posts on it recently.
That's my experience trying to find any specific subject matter on lemmy, google tries to relate it to Motorhead.
are you guys just not aware you can filter by site?
guitar site:lemmy.world
That doesn't help with all the different Lemmy instances, but searching on a Lemmy instance does... Well, the search function is janky so it works kinda, but it searches a lot of Lemmy instances alright!
It should work fine. Filtering by one instance will show all Lemmy content. You can use a script to ensure you always land back on your instance.
I was actually completely unaware of that. Thanks!
I've had middling results using "Lemmy Fediverse" in search strings instead of just "Lemmy". You still get a lot of Motorhead though.
just filter by your instance, e.g google thing_youre_interested_in site:sh.itjust.works
To be fair, he's dead, so there's not that much current news.
He's still the top Google result tho.
As he should be, and it's not like Lemmy doesn't show up right under him

Now I want to see Motorhead cover Thriller.
Sometimes, I think about the fact that if I post something really useful here, our traffic's still so comparatively small that it probably won't come up in a search engine query.
But that's the way I like it, baby - I don't want to live forever.
That lemmy was a awesome guy though.
Here is the documentary from 2010
Brain's out, total amnesia
Get some mental aneasthesia
Don't move, I'll shut the door and kill the lights
I guess I'll see you all on the ice
All good clean fun
Have another stick of gum
Man, you look better already
Motörhead, remember me now
Motörhead, alright
Who'd win in a wrestling match; Lemmy or God?
Trick question, Lemmy IS God.
Depends. Does Lemmy have a gun?
Depends on what search engine you use.. Google is pretty bad. Kagi has been showing Lemmy links for years.
I was looking for a post on Lemmy yesterday with a vague couple of keywords, used Kagi with "Fediverse forums" lens and bam, right there at the top was the post I was looking for, from a year ago! I couldn't believe it.
It's like how everyone used to search Reddit with site:reddit rather than using the reddit search. Except you can't do that too easily for Lemmy because of all the instances. But the Kagi lens does a pretty impressive job of solving that.
Before the whole reddit fiasco, many of my search results were directed to include reddit. I wish I could do the same with Lemmy but no one comments so it's not worth it.
I'm so conflicted right now.
I wish Duckduckgo would add a band that would search all of Lemmy via Activitypub
Plenty of people comment on Lemmy, but I think the main issue is that everything is split over multiple domains which seems to be ranked lower by search engines. I've recently been seeing Lemmy.world in Google search results, and even some from the "smaller" instances such as sh.itjust.works and db0.
Searxng has a way to query threadiverse posts, perhaps that works better.
I think we still rank pretty far behind even Lemmy Koopa in the search results.
They're not though. If I type Lemmy in Google, about 90% of page 1 is Lemmy from Motorhead .
