Sounds like unachievable utopia. And with Mamdanis wonderful "grocery stores" idea it looks like he has no idea what he's doing.

Sounds like Christianity to me. No fucking way. Not in this country. Never

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 1 points 3 hours ago

Maybe if we manage to frame it as judaism....??

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Do you mean the Christianity inside or outside the US? Because to me this does not in anyway sound like US Christianity. Maybe a little bit their preaching, but surely not their actions.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 hours ago

This is what the bible promotes. But to be fair it also promotes a lot of things that are less palatable, like stoning you to death for wearing clothes of two different fabrics.

However, Christianity in the US has largely (not entirely) been overtaken by the "prosperity gospel" where if you're rich and healthy, that means you're a good person because God provided for you and if you're poor or sick, well, God must not love you, therefore bad person.

Also the bible has so many contradictions in it that you can basically put out whatever message you want by cherry picking passages. No idea if that's by design or not.

I mean the Christian community that has provided love and support for my family.

~~Where~~ Were these things they did or only things they said they do?

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 5 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

There is a lot of history and present action like that. It's the mega churches that generally suck the most, and generally the wealthiest of churches. Most food banks in the US are run by Christian organizations if not directly by a church.

Remember when Jesus freed the slaves of Jerusalem? What a badass section of the Bible

Oh wait no that never happened. In fact, Jesus never even spoke negatively about slavery.

Bummer.

But sure, I guess other than completely ignoring the concept of owning a person in the same way you own oxen, he really wanted everyone to care about one another.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Jesus' dad was pretty adamant He owned everyone.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 hours ago

Yeah. Committed a whole fucking lot of genocide too.

And the reason? Petty fucking jealousy. From a supposedly all powerful god.

I'm still haunted by the realization that conservatives want hierarchy. They want underclasses. Even when they're not the top! They don't want free health care because then the wrong sort of people will get it!

They're bad people! It's not about "cost" or market efficiency or anything else they say.

[–] jimmy90@lemmy.world -1 points 47 minutes ago (1 children)

have you even read the policies of the DSA

you hide behind "we just want healthcare for all" like the fundamentalist cowards you are

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 1 points 7 minutes ago

Name calling aside, what policies are you reacting so viscerally against? Please, share a credible (eg: not some third party on YouTube) source and explanation.

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip 27 points 1 day ago

This is why when people post anti-right wing messages they don't realize it's not the right angle

Wrong angle: they only want the top class to access health care

Right angle: most Americans cannot afford to see doctors

This is because they read the message and think "hell yeah fuck em [derogatory word]s"

To address far right people. You ALWAYS have to frame it in a way where it's about THEMSELVES.

It's the same thing with anti-left wing messages. You'll see fox News going "antifa wants more of our tax dollars to feed children". It's like ....hell yeah.

[–] Oyml77@lemmy.today 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

People on the left have a belief that society should benefit everyone. No one should suffer from too little when someone has excess. It's a pretty basic tenet of progressive belief.

People on the right vote like they don't believe in society at all. They vote like everyone should fend for themselves and fuck the rest. Then they complain when their government benefits get cut and the prices get too high because it wasn't supposed to be them that got fucked. They weren't supposed to be the "rest."

I don't think they understand that progressive policies are intended to help the most racist piece-of-shit MAGA fuckwits as much as anyone else. They only want to have it better than someone, ANYONE else, so they aren't at the bottom rung.

Conservatives think all three things are bad because they think it will cost them money.

[–] Ravenheart@lemmy.zip 2 points 22 hours ago

Yet they're okay with war and genocide, even though that costs them money too. It's clearly not about the money. The point is cruelty.

[–] brachiosaurus@mander.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

I don't know of any single person who actually use threads, write the fucking thing yourself and don't give them ads. Stop upvoting this format.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

It is all about what the oligarchs want and how they can manipulate the masses to support their agenda. Turns out it is quit easy to get folks to support hating their neighbors, and even hang themselves out to dry.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Eww. Helping others less fortunate? Wut???
