If they wanted people to opt in, they could, I don't know, offer to pay them instead of stealing. Its a wild concept I know.

Why would they do that if they can make more money the way they did it, while facing no consequences?

There’s a lot of shitting on twitch here, and rightfully so - but if you think YouTube, Kick, Rumble, Facebook, TikTok etc aren’t doing this, then they probably haven’t bulldozed a large portion of your town to build a data center yet

I don't believe it. Everything is used regardless of what they say.

[–] Madrigal@lemmy.world 19 points 16 hours ago

They’ll just change the T&Cs later on to retrospectively allow use of the data again.

We promise to not use your data for AI if you press this button.

Terms of use.
We reserve the right to use data you enter to and to help the platform. (Meaning we take ownership of the data)

We will only use your data after it has been submitted, at which point it is now OUR data SUCKEERR. 🤣 🤡

Right? Even if it's not for now they'll just go back once everyone stops paying attention.

There is no such thing as enough data, probably more that users are catching on and complaining.

The fact that users have been automatically opted in to this AI training for years is causing a lot of anger.

But it's mostly a placebo button:

opting out will not prevent your data being used if you chat on someone else's stream

You can say no, except not really.

Just don't use privately owned social media, guys. It is the same deceit and profeteering over and over and over again.

They want more growth and think the publicity from the change will drive more conversion.

That lady has witch tattooed on her neck, that's hardcore

I knew a guy who had jaded on his neck. He said it was like armor and nobody fucks with you when you have that kind of tattoo. I wonder if she's going with that same idea, keeps guys from coming on to you if you're holding a sign that says basically fuck you dudes

This is like asking whether it’d be alright to cum inside a woman, post-birth. Very intentional delay

I don’t know why streamers still use Twitch. It’s got an absolutely toxic amount of ads. Unwatchable unless you’re paying a lot of money monthly.

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

The pay. They make more (especially on a donation model) because they get to keep more of what people donate to them. YouTube takes like 30%, and I think Twitch is lower (5%?).

I hear that the discoverability is terrible on Twitch but I'm not a streamer, so what do I know.

You kinda answered your own question there. Never get why people watch streams on there though. (Except its some kind of planned event. )
