Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Let's appreciate the facts:

And just like that he shits even more on decades of building US influence in the Middle East. As long as Bibi supports him I guess?

This guy is a dangerous idiot. This was known in 2016, in 2020 and in 2024. WTF is wrong with a substantial amount of the US American population? Well, I do know the answer to that. It's the same here even if the percentages are still lower.

Combination of a large population of ass hats who will vote red no matter what, so long as the heathens on the left don't win, and the corrupt DNC consistently shitting the bed on candidates, and Bidens senile ass not giving up the presidency early enough to show if Harris could have been a good president, which pretty much guaranteed a lot of people wouldn't vote for her. She did nothing as VP (at least nothing that was reported on) and the cards were already stacked against her.

Don't forget the vast majority of traditional and online media platforms being owned by Trump's buddies.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

The sheep are easily lead.

[–] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Of course they are, we're all hand-fed a fine-tuned slurry of propaganda from day 0. Some people have personal experiences or peculiarities that lead them to cut against the mainstream in one direction or another, but you and I are no more special than your average normie Liberal or bog-standard Conservative at some essential, Immaterial level. We just got lucky.

Don't get it in your head that you're the Shepard standing tall over the herd, you're just another sheep that happened to see past the slaughterhouse doors.

I wonder how the Repubs I used to hear praise Trump for being "anti war" feel now that he's shown his whole ass

[–] theherk@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

New evidence rarely changes sentiment in a cult.

"He kept us out of all the wars he didn't get us into!"

[–] halezinflames@lemmus.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hell even Ron Paul would've been a marked improvement because as crazy as that dude was, he stood on business with the anti war thing

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Ron Paul is a Confederate-nostalgic racist crackpot idiot. His phony libertarianism is even worse than the real thing, and the real thing is an economically illiterate cultish bag of simplistic bullshit.

[–] halezinflames@lemmus.org 1 points 7 hours ago

Yeah unfortunately there really are no heroes in this story, I just acknowledged that being principled on being anti-war is better than whatever Trump is doing tbh

Difficult to know how they feel deep inside, but on the surface: dig their heels down even deeper. Claim they were for this all along. Attribute prophetic knowledge and foresight to dear leader. Necessity, not ideology. Etc.

edit: and, worst of all, apparently it makes america great again to bomb other countries.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I can't wait for my mom to figure out how to spin this one. She's already hard on the "well we're not AT WAR, so he's still following his campaign promises" train.

[–] aarch0x40@piefed.social 25 points 1 day ago (2 children)

[–] BlueEther@no.lastname.nz 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

He did make that AI video where he dropped shit from a plane on protestors, so guess you are probably right.

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Ah the north Korea playbook

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Check the stock market! Someone's making bank.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hate how likely it is that you are 100% correct.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I only think that because that's what's happened every other time he's made that kind of 'announcement'.

The final final final v3.75 Strait of Hormuz deal (no really this time).

[–] SatansDaughter@quokk.au 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Didn't he say he would bomb the shit out of Iran before ? This doesn't seem like a very original threat

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Nothing he does is original, that stupid maga shit he's so proud of was just stolen from Reagan who stole it from iirc Johnson(?).

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

The Sun is a shit source and other better ones exist. For example: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy5dzk0ryzdo

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Did those guys in Oman say something to annoy Netanyahoo?

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

Netanyahu wants to US to destoy Iran even more. And why not? It's not costing him anything. It's the Iranians and a few US military people who are bleeding.
