I do NOT understand the hype.
The last one was pretty good but nothing groundbreaking.
Why are people so sure this one is the second coming of Vice City?

As depressing as it is to admit, for a lot of people gta online has become their third place.
What I do NOT understand is whenever people resort to propaganda like this, to try sabotage public perception of an (actually evil) person or company. Yes we know Rockstar is a bunch of greedy bastards, but their games are "nothing groundbreaking", really? GTA V and Red Dead are listed as two of the most successful games ever made behind only Minecraft.
This is like when an actor gets involved in some sex scandal and everyone suddenly thinks their work is mediocre. Can we really not separate an evil person or company from their work?
Successful and groundbreaking are not necessarily the same thing
it was groundbreaking at launch. the switch-character thing was pretty awesome
Don’t kid yourself, it was amazing. New one will be amazing.
To the new players, maybe. But not for you. You now have the curse of an Elder Scrolls player - you'll watch each installment become more and more popular, while the actual gameplay gets worse and worse.
Assassin's Creed also.
Why are people so sure this one is the second coming of Vice City?
because it's set in Vice City? /s
"God, please let Chip Skylark play at my birthday party..."
It'll be good, but it won't be as good as its hyped up to be, because even a game coded by an army of time-travelling future-messiahs from every conceivable dimension couldn't be as good as the hype suggests.
What you can look forward to is every single content creator even remotely related to digital entertainment talking about how its the best/worst thing ever, dissecting every single plotpoint, getting enraged/excited over every minor update, endless discussions over the price of the mtx that will generate more revenue than a mid-sized countries GDP.
Even if the game sucks by every objective metric, children and casuals will still throw money at it every chance it gets. The game has to be amazing for me to have any hope.
I think flop is impossible, but shitshow and disappointment? Now that seems pretty likely.
John Rockstar has alot to answer for

wHy aRE CorPORatiOns DoiNg thiS To us
Proceeds to still gobble it all up
Or just come out already so people can stop obsessing over it
The old Rockstar is dead. Ppl r gonna preorder GTA anyways and defend the company when they get a broken/unfinished product on day one, claiming it can be fixed in the future with updates. Look at cyberpunk 2077 and no mans land.
Lol, I'm sorry... NO MANS SKY?!
That game did so much work it's ridiculous. It's like, the worst example you could have possibly brought up.
Did you do it on purpose? Is this rage bait?
Yeah a game with 10 years of free updates and no microtransactions, Rockstar would never.
I honestly hope somebody leaks it 2 weeks early for free and rockstar just lose a bunch of stock money.
~~All~~ most of the people who made GTA 5 are long gone. The game isn't going to be edgy nor will it be pushing the envelope the way all their other games did. Its going to be safe and filled with inclusive dad jokes that suck the air out of the room... with character banter heavily inspired by wannabe MCU dialogue (which is also shit BTW but they emulate it because they want to be as successful as Marvel)
E: I was being hyperbolic to make a point...
Dan Houser: the bigger loss by most accounts. Co-founder and lead writer on essentially every GTA since the series' 1997 debut through GTA V, plus Red Dead Redemption 2, Bully, and Max Payne 3. He left in 2020, and has confirmed directly that he wrote none of GTA 6 "They're always a new story. It's not going to be a story I wrote or a character set that I developed." He's since said the sheer scale of GTA V and RDR2's workload (450,000 lines of dialogue for RDR2 alone) burned him out before GTA 6 could even get going. He's now running his own studio, Absurd Ventures.
Leslie Benzies: arguably even more central to the actual production side. He was producer on every GTA from GTA III onward and ran Rockstar North as president, credited by some as one of "the three people most directly responsible for the massive success of the Grand Theft Auto series," alongside the Houser brothers. He left in 2016 amid a lawsuit over allegedly unpaid royalties, worth $150 million US, and disputes over who was ultimately responsible for the company's success. He's since founded Build A Rocket Boy (whose own game, MindsEye, launched poorly this year).
They still have Sam houser and their art director, and there are still veteran developers they aren't all gone... I just think most of the mojo is gone from the company that has a game wide impact on its direction.
Rockstar has historically been very good about making relatable characters with good dialogue in gripping stories. They took 5 years to make rdr 2, which turned out to be good and now another 8 years for gta 6.
It's definitely not a given that the game is gonna be good, but it might very well be a banger. Writing it off already is unfair, I think.
But still, don't fucking preorder games
I am done with giant open world games. Data point of one but my current preference is shorter, much more narrowly scoped games.
How could you not enjoy running across the map for 20 min for a 2 min fetch quest and then going back another 20 min to another part of the map to speak to the person who gives you the reward? Don't you like commuting?
Hey, fuck you. Sometimes just commuting is a nice change of pace from my favorite game, Desert Bus.
My current preference is games that have a requirement like "graphics card (optional)"
Timmy Turner you dumbass, just wish for it. Praying? Really?
God is dead because Timmy Turner killed him
Then whO WAS PHONE?
