Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Leading US medical groups are urging people to get updated flu and Covid-19 vaccinations this fall, banding together on Wednesday to issue shot guidelines – and highlight the science behind them – saying they hope to ease confusion caused by the Trump administration’s changing advice.

Doing the opposite of what ever trump says is pretty solid advice for anything.

My body is shit. No way I trust my immune system to handle the flu and Covid. Thanks for the reminder to get my shots.

I don’t live in the US but it must be hard seeing that there are groups that are anti-vaccines who will make those decisions for their children who inevitably will get sick, and those who are sensible have the full knowledge that this was easily avoidable because prior to vaccinations there was widespread death.

Also not uniquely a US problem but clearly at the forefront of online media.

I've never had COVID and I'm not starting now

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

An actual case of survivorship bias!

[–] Stiggyman@ani.social 4 points 2 days ago

You might just be asymptomatic pretty sure everyone has had a go now

[–] impudentmortal@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I'm assuming you forgot to add that's the reason why you're going to get vaccinated.

[–] likebudda@reddthat.com 4 points 2 days ago

I work at a call center and I wear a mask when I'm in office and haven't missed a flu or COVID shot yet. I've never had COVID and haven't been sick since at least 2019.

Pfft what do those NERDS know? Bleaching my asshole with sunshine is nature’s best medicine!

[–] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

I think you aren't doing it right. I seem to remember that the bleach goes into the "in" hole.

I know my state has its own advisories and require insurance to cover them. At least for now. Who knows if the elections literally go south.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

They're working toward a total ban on all vaccines.

[–] Herbie@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

This would explain the cold call from CVS asking when I wanted to schedule my flu, COVID, and hep b vaccines.

Believe me, if I could afford them, I would. I can manage the flu shot probably.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You need to pay for vaccination?

[–] Ganbat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, like, a lot. Iirc, when I tried to get a COVID shot last year, it was something like $200+.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

What the ACTUAL fuck?

[–] thal3s@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Target (in the US) was providing COVID vaccines for free last year.

Also, your employer may offer free flu shots.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Well of course Big Pharma wants you to get the shots, thats how they steal your money. Wake up sheeple

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah, lots of people unironically believe this

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And big produce wants you to eat your fruits and veggies. 🤨

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago
