I use agents to run my troubleshooting steps while I do other things. The information it collects is valuable. It's just smart enough to understand which flow of the troubleshooting playbook to run, but its explanation of what went wrong and what to fix is generally wrong. Like over 50% of the time.

It's a net time savings for me, but I still have to do all of the thinking work. I 100% agree that it is critical to use deterministic tools whether you are executing them or an AI is orchestrating them.

It is not smart, it doesn't understand anything, it's just a random word generator and this insanity has to stop.

How come people are so fucking dumb they can't accept the idea of animals being sentient, but then they get thrown a few words at their face and they suddenly decide to attribute sentience to the random word generator?

What a stupid world we live in.

Non deterministic is not the same as random. You will never get a taco recipe when you ask it to tell you why the sky is blue. AI is incredible and not something to be brushed off as a child's toy. Otherwise you are the farmer with the plow laughing at the guy with the first generation tractor that breaks down five times during a single plow but still finishes before you and with better rows.

There is absolutely a time and place for AI and I've seen it fail extremely hard many times. But I've also seen it identified things I've overlooked and found bugs in minutes that could have taken hours to find by hand.

Sure, and the existence of randomness itself is debatable. "Unreliable as fuck" could be a better description.

"AI" as in machine learning to do, whatever, audio transcription or translation, recognising bird noises and whatnot, sure. It's a tool, it's not very useful yet but it could be in specific contexts. That kind basically stopped being developed a few years ago.

Now generative "AI" and LLMs? Those are garbage. Anyone with a different opinion is deluded. Destroying the world and humanity for the sake of mass-producing trash slop? There is no "time and place" for that other than never and nowhere.

And like, for fuck's sake, anyone with a brain knows that when all the billionaires suddenly bet on something, it's not something good.

We went through the blockchain, through NFTs, now it keeps on getting worse and worse and yet people must be becoming dumber and dumber for falling for it again and again.

It's pretty clear to me you don't know what you're talking about and that you have no interest in learning.

Sooo I'm going to discontinue this conversation and do something more useful with my time. Like watching grass grow or timing how long it takes for paint to dry.

Who is doing that? No one here. If you're going to scold me for using a conversational word like "understand" then maybe don't use the word "random" when it is not.
