If just the board costs $124, then Nintendo charging $175 for replacement seems totally reasonable. $51 for labour isn't bad.

Yeah, especially since replacing the mainboard is not trivial work at all. I assume it's probably more expensive outside Japan though, with the weak yen etc.

Wow $175?

That's pretty good in today's world lol

That's the price in Japan - it'd likely be higher in the USA, plus the motherboard itself would also cost more due to tariffs.

„sourced“ as in stolen?

[–] Ugurcan@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago (1 children)

nah. well. that’s how Chinese industry rolls. they become contractors for western manufacturers, and when they got ordered, let’s say, 100.000 units, they produce 200.000 and sell the extra under their own brand. that’s how they’ve fucked over Audio device industry and now can produce no name headphones better than Sennheisers, or pro microphones better than Schoeps.

Do you by chance have an example? I had an older EPOS seinheisser headset that was the best audio I've ever experienced and haven't found anything comparative.

Hm, what else would I need to have a fully functioning switch? Just a screen?

Nah, waiting for something less detectable.
