That’s the first thing that came to mind for me too. Is every parent of a “Mike” signing off on the teacher calling them that instead of “Michael?” What about a school nickname, like one based on a jersey number for football players? This is entirely to make trans kids feel alienated, and it’s fucking monstrous.
"BPS supports parents’ rights to be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives" Gross, I wouldn't have followed this shit as a kid. No wonder suicide is so common in children, they have no freedom.
Sadly the US never ratified the UN's convention on the right's of the child which is why the US has some of the worst abuse and control of children to this day. Really says something about the US mindset, huh?
Not that other places necessarily fair much better as not seeing children as people is kind of built into the system, but at least there are technically laws in some places against some of the worst stuff that can be done to children.
Perhaps there should be a new approach though: !YouthLiberation@slrpnk.net
This entire parents rights as primary decision makers in education really blew up (all over, but especially in Florida) since Devo's. It has very successfully removed resources from classrooms and eroded a lot of supports for children in public schools. This is relatively new and we will be seeing the fallout for a generation at least.
Children are subhuman I guess. Just puppets played by their parents.
