Doug Ford making a shortsighted move to benefit private industry? Shocker. If the way we recycle the packaging isn't working we're left with two options, force a change of packaging or invest in new ways to recycle. Saying "fuck it, it's too costly" is what got us in this mess.

proposing to weaken an impending slate of new recycling rules because producers of the materials said the system is getting too expensive.
Thats litterally the point of the legislation. If the old way of doing it is too expensive, find a better way. use biodegradable packaging, more recycled paper and less plastic!
If they can't (or won't) recycle it, don't let them sell it. Every piece of plastic coming into my home goes out in the blue box, fuck em.
“The new recycling rules seem to be working.”
“Unacceptable. Those were supposed to be performative. We need to weaken them immediately!”
Ontario fucks residents yet again in favour of massive corporations.
