General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Turns out they lied, one book targeted at adults got moved from the welcome area to further back in the library. Truly an impressively incompetent bunch these Reform councilors.

If there's one thing Trump has taught us, it's that you don't need to be competent or have even an ounce of intelligence to bring about the nightmare fascist takeover of your country.

Britain stood firm against the far right in the war.

Will we stand against Reform now?

I honestly have my doubts, politicians have been dumbing down the education system for years, it's now biting them in the butt. Nobody thought that the internet would become a far better educator than the State.

Shame the curriculum is absolutely tosh

"My fellow Reform members and I believe that our young people should be protected from exposure to potentially harmful ideologies"

The whole f*ing Reform platform is a toxic and actively harmful ideology. Projection as usual from the far right.

Paul Webb, Reform UK's communities portfolio holder who oversees libraries, said the move came after a "concerned member of the public" contacted him.

Good money says the concerned member of the public was Paul himself.

Is there anything we can do about this bullshit?

I'd be tempted to just move the book back where it originally was myself if I happened to live nearby.
