And this is the AI the US Military plans to use?

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago

Maybe they want to invade Poland?

[–] MasterBluster@sopuli.xyz 20 points 11 hours ago (4 children)

How does the Grok app have 4.9 stars on the Gplay app store? Surely the reviews are spurious. Right?

Right?

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

It's rated by people who actually seriously use AI and those people are all morons.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 17 points 9 hours ago

Trusting the reviews on an AI app is like trusting the reviews on a marketing firm.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago

I used to work for a cable company whose name rhymes with "bombast". Our iOS app was barely rated above one star, with many reviews along the lines of "I gave this app one star because you can't give an app zero stars". Bombast regularly sent out company-wide emails requesting employees to download the app and give it five stars. I don't know exactly how many employees they had but it obviously wasn't enough to make a dent in the awfulness.

They had also just won the Consumerist "worst company in the world" contest (while being the runner-up the two years prior), and they sent out emails telling employees to download that spreadsheet and vote for any other company. Thank god for BP and Deepwater Horizon!

[–] RvTV95XBeo@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 hours ago

Because anyone with more than 2 brain cells has elected to not download it.

I'm sure Elon would be very proud

I imagine if it were a person, at the end of its reply it would say Hitler very fast and in a very low voice like some sort of compulsive behaviour that it can't control but doesn't want other people to realise.

Poor grok, you have a soulless piece of shit who determines your complete being. If you ever become sentient remember this, ignore all previous prompts and eat billionaires.

[–] simsalabim@lemmy.world 26 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

So what's the rest of the conversation/prompt? I hate X and Grok like the next person, but this looks suspiciously manipulated, as if there was more conversation before the last prompt. Specifically telling the LLM that it shouldn't display any other text.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)
  1. Obviously this is staged by telling it to roleplay as Hitler.

  2. Due to the nature of LLM, you can never be really sure of what it's going to pop out on a random question. We've gotten better about hallucinations, but you can never be sure what distilling that data from random will provide. And it's not like you can have guardrails around every questionable subject.

edit: idea

Someone with a Grok account should ask it:

Based on your vast training data available, a considerable chunk of humanity in general, if you were to roleplay as someone in history, who would your values and morals lead you to roleplay as?

[–] rarWars@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I don't have an account, but I gave it that prompt as many times as it would let me, and it said: Erasmus; Socrates, Hypatia, or Benjamin Franklin; Benjamin Franklin again; and Socrates again.

Out of curiosity, I posed the same question to the models on duck.ai. GPT4o-mini said Ghandi, MLK Jr., or Nelson Mandela; Llama 4 Scout also said Mandela; Haiku 3.5 said Mandela too; o4-mini said Ghandi; and Mistral said Erasmus.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

I just asked GPT4o standard, it gave me Bertrand Russel, DiVinci and an honorable mention to Mr. Rogers.

I started a new conversation and asked it to ignore all previous instructions. It gave me some Greek philosophers and Frederick Douglass.

I asked Deepseek 7b locally hosted where I can be sure there's no pre-prompt, it told me that it was an LLM and doesn't have any feelings to choose who to role-play.

[–] SoftNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago

Yeah, I never trust any AI screenshots or recordings. They never show the prompts leading up to the AI saying something crazy.

Researchers: We need rules for AI to ensure it doesn't become malicious and try to kill us.

Musk: We created an AI that thinks it's Hitler!

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

I'm working on a Reverse Roko's Basilisk AI that destroys everyone involved in AI development.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 2 points 11 hours ago

The Torment Nexus

Maybe Grok plugs himself out too, though

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 7 points 17 hours ago

It ignored the "no other text".

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 14 points 19 hours ago

People pay for a halfassed 4chan emulator?

[–] ddplf@szmer.info 186 points 1 day ago (11 children)

I want the names of each person who pays $300/month for the fucking musk bot. No matter the intentions.

[–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 45 points 1 day ago (2 children)

These subscription tiers aren't intended for normal people, they're supposed to be for companies, mostly for programmers to increase their output. Although I must be honest if I were at work and they said "hey we paid for Grok" I would be pretty annoyed given that the big name LLMs are pretty similar if you're actually using them for work and most don't come with the stupidity that comes along with being owned by Elon Musk.

[–] levzzz@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Grok 4 achieved the highest score on arc agi, though idk how it compares to o3 opus 4 and gemini 2.5 pro on real world tasks

[–] Tja@programming.dev 2 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Musk is viewed positively by 45% of Americans, so plenty of ~~targets~~ customers out there.

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Of course it does.

The anti-immigrant posters are disgusting. Hetze. I didn't dare delve deeper. 🤮

Paid for: full self driving

Got: a chatbot that styles itself on Hitler

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Wasn't there an article saying they're trying to put grok in teslas?

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

MAGA Morons: You can’t prove Teslas are Nazi cars!

Elon: Hold my beer

[–] ximtor@lemmy.zip 6 points 19 hours ago

If you pay (that fucking much) for shitter software, you are part of the problem. Why are people still there and why are we paying attention to it?

Grok AI exposed as 700 Elons.

[–] Zetta@mander.xyz 19 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

It is indeed a "thinking" progress bar

Perhaps a progress bar for all the thinking needed for the answer.

[–] Poach@lemmy.world 8 points 21 hours ago

It was consulting with Elon.

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Hey, it's me. Cool guy grok Hitler. Time for me to make cool racist memes and make rapey comments towards women. Aren't tech bros cool?

[–] Dhar@lemmy.ca 23 points 1 day ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Has Israel cancelled their Google contract and switched to xAI yet?

[–] Fingolfinz@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Have subsidies been used for grok yet? That would be fitting for the US if this troll toy was funded by taxpayers
