Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

I literally can never do a jump attack on command in Dark Souls, so yeah, not pointless for me lol.

Hard disagree on the jump button. That thing has fundamentally altered how I play so heavily that I struggle going back to Dark Souls games.

I like it too. It adds another layer to exploration but also to combat. Miyazaki's urge to put in unnecessary but mandatory souls platforming sections actually felt a little at place here

Have yet to go back to ER after getting the platinum a few months after launch.

It’s just not as replayable or fun to have to grind through the open world just to find the stuff for your build off the wiki because who remembers where that one talisman is.

I remember where most stuff is. Been playing a lot, trying different builds etc. Ofc some of the open world is a bit tedious to run through again but the freedom it gives is nice. There's some shortcuts here and there to make it quicker to get around.
