Participating in sports is now for “internet points?” Downhill skating has been around since the 70s

[–] AntEater@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 6 days ago

For internet points? Sorry, we were doing this long before anyone knew about the internet.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

10 points.

Get out there and earn some more!

[–] Rogue1633@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 week ago

That's no skateboard, that's a longboard specifically made for these kind of downhill rides

See no problem: the job must be paid according to its usefulness. Internet points look like the most appropriate type of payment for something like "skateboarding 50mph downhill".

This post is broken somehow. Also why does it link to another post instead of the source? https://imgur.com/a/MRRsS7o

So are there 2 people skating at 50 mph for internet points, the second being behind the camera? If so, hats off to that dude, crazy skill to keep this so stable and in frame

Normally the skater is tailed by a car or motorcycle.

SOURCE: I bombed for years and was a fixture in Silverfish. I mainly repped Rayne, Soda Factory and Earthwing.

Silverfish, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Used to rep for Madrid a long time ago

Seems like its being recorded by an auto-following drone with some heavy image stabilisation

[–] LostXOR@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This is a recording from some video game, right? The camera tracking and movement of the skateboarder is so unnatural.

[–] BudgetBandit@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Drone with a head-tracker (or board tracker) camera on gimbals and follow-me flying function.

Could be an FPV pilot with a seperate gimbal mounted tracking camera as well.

But definitely tracking-gimbal-camera.

Source: I fly them.

I'll take your word for it; pretty impressive camera work!

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think it's a drone with a wide field of view lens

[–] dxc@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You can hear the car honking in happiness and fulfillment at the end

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago

Oh, I need to turn on sound then
