I'm no shaman, but I suspect if we sacrifice enough CEOs, Mother Earth will ease up on the climate change.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 51 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You'd need to drastically up the pace.

[–] epicstove@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Anyone got Luigi on speed dial?

[–] Metostopholes@midwest.social 58 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Could we start doing the ritual more often? Like, weekly maybe?

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

that's actually a really good comparison method

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

According to a /r/theydidthemath conversation, it's closer to 4 months, but still.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

2 months to stop the spread, got it

[–] devfuuu@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Spread weapons, not billionaires.

Facts be facts

There's only 52 weeks in a year

Whilst a lot of CEOs are either not evil, or maybe are just inconsequential (like the CEO of some random startup with 4 employees creating a new app that's like Tinder but for whatever else), there's thousands whose companies are ruining our society and planet.

Though if one were to fall a week, that would maybe at least drive some fear into the others.

Oh yeah, I was gonna mention that, didn't want to seem like I'm actually advocating for anything though. Unfortunate as it is, I may still have to do business travel to the US at some point and while I'm white enough to hopefully be safe, I wouldn't want them to think I'm planning on taking any action on my political opinions.

Forgetting Autonomy CEO Mike Lynch who died when his super yacht was sunk rapidly by microburst storm in Sicily

Now that’s a tradition I can get behind

Orcas have been attacking and sinking yachts. Apparently, CEO Marcus Hale (crypto bro) was sailing off the coast of Portugal last October when his yacht was attacked by orcas. He drowned. Here’s the only article I can find that’s not a video or twitter post: https://www.bitrue.com/blog/marcus-hale-crypto-ceo-death

I can’t find a more reputable link, so can’t vouch for the veracity of this. The orcas have been revolting for a few years, though.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Lmao I hadn't heard about that one. I will continue cheering for the Orcas.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Same. If arrogant bastards were doing donuts in my garden, keeping me up at all hours, throwing their rubbish everywhere, and scaring away my food, I’d start sabotaging them, too.

Orcas have yet to kill anyone on purpose, and this dipshit was likely collateral damage to them, but if they literally start eating people I’d say they deserve it. Team Orca.

[–] jqubed@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (3 children)

*Wild orcas are not known to have killed a human on purpose. Captive orcas seem to have killed on purpose.

[–] lagoon8622@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

Rightfully so. No one should keep an orca in captivity. We are fucking savages

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

You’re right, and who can blame them. We’ve treated them poorly.

(I was thinking about one instance, but there have been several, you’re right.)

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

2 seconds of googling gave me some guy called Marcus Hale. No idea if that's who the meme is talking about tho

[–] zach@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 days ago

Probably, thanks for finding it. I thought the orcas preferred capsizing overfilled migrant boats, which was unfortunate

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

search for the '2020 orca wars'

[–] zach@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

Thanks, I thought that was mostly refugee boats getting capsized which didn’t seem to fit

[–] jqubed@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Who’s the upper right guy? Looks familiar but I’ve already forgotten who he is/was

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Luigi Mangione, accused killer of the CEO of United Health.

[–] jqubed@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Isn’t winter Luigi time?

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Who's the first one? Did I miss something?

[–] Sunschein@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes you did. A CEO was caught on a kiss cam while having an affair with his HR chief. They did not play it off well, and it got a lot of attention.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's all good, I guess, but I was hoping for another dead one.

[–] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 10 points 2 days ago

he's dead to his family, if that helps.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Still not dead enough.
