Entirely seriously, I have been listening to many right wing Star Wars fans, since the 90s, make very serious arguments that the Empire were actually the good guys, that Agent Smith from the Matrix is actually a good guy just doing his job.

Also relevant to this: For a long while, Elon used JC Denton, the protagonist from Deus Ex, as his avatar on Twitter...

Somefuckinghow, entirely not realizing that he bears much, much more similarity to the main villain of Deus Ex, the uberwealthy deepstate oligarch Bob Page ... who ... concocts a false reality, regarding a pandemic, to mask the fact that he is covertly meeting with and buying influence of other prominent business people and politicians... all while also heavily investing in advancing AI tech, which he wants to proliferate everywhere.

Like 15 years ago, Elon was a major AI skeptic, considering its development potentially extremely dangerous.

Then he realized he could make money if he got AI (self driving cars) working, and just did a fucking 180.

Oh right Bob Page also pour gabillions of dollars into genetic research to grow the perfect super soldiers (JC and Paul Denton)... meanwhile Elon has ... basically an artificial insemination/breeding kink that also almost certainly involves some kind of artificial genetic selection or manipulation during pregnancy, as ... waaay too many of his kids come out AMAB compared to what you'd expect from the baseline of not doing that.

I have said this before: If you were to ask Elon to summarize his life story, he would tell you his whole life is basically a gigantic 'revenge of the nerd' plot.

He is the uber-incel.

I do genuienly believe he has Aspbergers (so now we'd say he is on the ASD spectrum) given how ... just astoundingly socially awkward he is, goes ham into his hyperfixations (with billions and billions of dollars), is really, really bad at understanding and regulating his own emotions...

I am autistic as well and he is like me at 14 years old, just never actually grew up in terms of taking the time and therapy/counseling to learn how to interface better with neurotypical social norms, understand and accept yourself and how you are different...

Instead, he just wants people to think he's cool, because he never fundamentally learned that... you gotta accept and love and define yourself first man, worry about what other people think about you second, you don't and shouldn't need to be loved or worshipped by everyone ... you should be able to validate yourself.

On that level, it is so fucking sad and pathetic.

Reminds me of the line from a Metric song: All the gold and the guns in the world couldn't get you off.

On another level: This man is a comic book supervillain evil CEO, and needs to be fucking put down or locked away before he just actually kills millions of people, either basically directly, or through astounding incompetence.

Sometime I wonder who elon is posting as now. He's clearly addicted to it and we know he makes alts and impersonates people. Absolutely crazy this guy gets to run countries and run businesses. I feel like if there is no internet elons the creepy dude in the camero sitting outside the concert waiting for teenage girls to come out so he can give them drugs and try to date rape them.

cocaine would explain his ability to post all day, plus the erratic paranoid behaviour, and ketamine while in public.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago

If the 4chan posts that are purported to be Elon... actually are...

His latest persona is literally the AntiChrist.

... Normally a person like that ends up in an involuntary hold in a psych ward.

i believe he preferentially selects only his male sperm as insemination. he could be just on drugs, and he self-diagnosed which is not credible hes using to excuse his shitty behaviour.

Jokes on him. The hate doesn’t stop till he’s broke or dead. Preferably both.

"Y U mad? I'm totally on your side!" -- Guy who is definitely not on your side

Nothing this moron stands for is a rebellion against anything (except for maybe against human decency and empathy).

Stock price is a helluva drug

It's still higher than it was 6 months ago, that shit needs to plummet more. I want to see it do into double digit territory, that's where it's true value is relative to it's new outlook.

This is what a lack of self awareness looks like i guess?

[–] Hermit_Lailoken@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

He sided with the Dark side.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

I hope he never has an unstressed day for the rest of his life. And I hope it's a short life. Fascist fuck.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

is he just... writing out his internal monologues? Cuz... like. that's not crazy.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 13 points 2 days ago

He didn't write this, he stole it, like everything else.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a better example of "main character syndrome" as Musk just displayed here.

The Empire did nothing wrong. Also, nobody has ever seen "Divergence".

Can he depart from this planet already?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (4 children)

The problem is, in the real world? Right now? There is no "resistance". I'd support them if they existed, but they don't.

Oh, sure, the "Hands Off" people have their performative protests to make themselves feel good, like they're actually doing something. They aren't.

Cory Booker got up and talked for 25 hours... which didn't actually block any legislation from passing, or block a nominee, or alter Trump policy on, well, anything really. But hey! He talked for 25 hours!

Show me a resistance to support.

[–] cooperativesrock@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And you? What are you doing to resist? Shit on those who are trying?

You do these things to setup solidarity and organize. Want a general strike? It starts by getting lots of people to come out and protest. Then, people see that there are other people who will join them in a general strike. You can't start by randomly calling one. Each individual person will see that they're taking a risk of losing their job, and that risk can only be justified if everyone else is doing the same thing. Can't fire all of us. If the organizers of the same protests you've been going to are saying we should all participate in a general strike, then individuals are assured they won't be sticking their own head out there only for it to get hit by a truncheon.

Replace "general strike" with whatever sort of large scale action you'd prefer.

I hear you. There’s a serious lack of grand scale organizing, and with all three branches of government captured there’s not even the consolation prize of legislative or judicial obstructionism.

That said, there is resistance at the local level, and it needs people badly. Those hands off protests aren’t being organized at the national level. The national org is calling for protests on a specific day and unaffiliated local groups are organizing the individual events. Those local groups could really use your support in whatever form you can give it. They’re almost always handing out flyers and info on their projects at protests. Most don’t require membership to help out and you almost never have to rsvp to just attend. Odds are there’s an organization or two near you that you can support, and if not most of the national orgs have organizing instructional materials on their websites for free.

It’s easy to be so worried by what’s happening nationally that we forget the difference that local orgs make. I was a part of a canvassing effort for an abortion rights amendment last year that knocked on over three thousand doors with no more than ten people every Saturday. We didn’t get the amendment passed, but it did get majority support and we saw a huge surge in new members. We’re now using our newfound numbers to help push for a city council recall and explore candidates for school board. Ours isn’t even the most well established organization in our city either. We regularly collaborate with four, more established, orgs and we’re working to build relationships with three more.

This knitting together of smaller orgs is the process of resistance building. It is unfortunately slow, but it is happening, and I promise it isn’t just happening here. Even in the middle of nowhere I have a friend in a town of two hundred who’s been auditing the town budget to show the incompetence of the “maga moms” on their town council in an attempt to get them removed. You’re right to be frustrated, but for all our sakes I hope you find something to do with that frustration.
