Great read. Curious that he didn't bring up Alan Wake 2, I felt like that was an absolutely amazing looking game. Though I'm no HDR expert so maybe I'm not seeing something.

Considering this post is actually 8 years old with no follow-up and the newest post is 6 years old... I wouldn't count on it.
In general, while some games still get HDR wrong, I'd read this article more as a time capsule from an age when HDR in gaming was still in its infancy.

Meanwhile, Shadow Warrior 2 with HRD looks amazing IF you raise the brightness a bit and lower the contrast (5-10% each would do it).
