Tea, the app that allows women to post anonymously about men they’ve dated, announced Friday that 72,000 images – selfies, photo IDs and pics from posts, comments and DMs. It’s almost enough to make you want to go back to the old-fashioned way of dating. @Techcrunch has more:

@TechDesk@flipboard.social @Techcrunch They vibe coded the app and ignored basic security. All of those women's driver's license photos were stored unencrypted and the storage location could easily be found in the app, making it trivial for the 4chan kids to find.

All of these "news" outlets keep saying it was a breach and removing the fact of mishandled KYC/PII on Tea's behalf. THIS WAS NOT A BREACH.

Speaking of AI, that title makes no sense! Kidding, but I think it cut part of it off. Here's the actual one from TechCrunch:

Dating safety app Tea breached, exposing 72,000 user images

Tea, an app that allows women to post anonymous comments about men they’ve supposedly dated, announced Friday that it has suffered a data breach, with hackers gaining access to 72,000 images.

@TechDesk@flipboard.social @Techcrunch now tell them the part about the “hack” being against a completely unsecured database.
