I thought that it was basically just a texture mod at first, too, but apparently this is an unreal engine 5 game, so it actually is a lot more than a texture mod. Even if they call it remastered, it is essentially a full remake. I wonder what this means for the future of the Gamebryo engine.
It's unreal doing the graphics but apparently it's still Bethesda's engine doing the rest of the game. I'm sure they updated some stuff but it's gonna play pretty damn similarly to Oblivion
The logic is the same as Oblivion and it plays exactly like that. It's a remaster not a remake.

What else has changed outside of the graphics? It looks like a very basic remaster to me.
It seems to be a bit more involved than a typical remaster since they seem to have replaced all the rendering side of the creation engine with UE5’s rendering and remade all assets.
Well that's slightly better than I thought, at least.
I watched someone playing it earlier and I've liked what I've seen. alot of neat little details and i feel like they did a good job with animating facial expressions.
so it's more ninja gaiden 2 sigma black than gta definitive edition.
But the deluxe edition gives you bonus horse armor! 
Remember when people actually got upset about this sort of thing? When horse armor for the original oblivion was used as an example of game companies just being extremely greedy and blatantly anti-consumer? Haha, remember when gamers actually took issue with DLC and "upgrades" that did nothing but provide an empty cosmetic change to the game?

Horse armour was only like $3 and ppl got mad.
I guess it proves simply complaining about it does nothing because the market will just do what it wants.
I'm starting to think that this whole "free market" thing doesn't actually solve consumer's problems and only makes them worse... 
Deluxe edition also gets you an art book and the soundtrack

I remember when dlc used to HUGE addition to the games (even then there were criticized), and not just stuff cut out from the actual game and sold as day 1 dlc.

Oblivion is a bad game to start with
compared to morrowind but it's better than everything that came after besides new vegas (which bgs didn't make)
Skyrim is better than Oblivion 
The levelling, graphics, and voice acting are better, but the quests, which imo are the real draw, are vastly worse.

yea it's crazy, people see not $80 USD and go "wow, this is so great, they're so generous"
idk if it's that im too indie pilled but if a game is more than like $20 i usually wait for it to go on sale or pirate it
One of the benefits of growing up with the same Pentium I well into the era of Pentium IVs is I learned to rummage through bargain bins for old software and play the same games for years on end. I am not paying eighty fucking dollars for a video game I know will be $10 in less than five years. I probably don't even want to play Oblivion because I haven't even played all the other RPGs I own.

This isn't true. It has some significant changes, but still feels like the original. They nailed it.
There is new voice acting, and voices are effected by your position to the speaker. They improved the leveling system. They added sprint. The combat feels similar, but is a lot less janky. Of course the improved VFX and SFX. There is probably other things. But it's definately more than a remaster. It feels like a remake.
