I wish I could buy ebooks and download them again... Some authors have no hard cover books AND its only available through Amazon. The only way to get them on another device is to go on the high seas. Which is the opposite of what I want to do. I WANT to give them my $$. Feels like the Fry meme.

I think there's no other options here. If we keep using amazon, they will keep the monopoly and all the bad that comes with it, while authors will keep using it, and we will have no alternatives. Unfortunately, authors must experience losses in sales to be forced to move out and look for alternatives.

For the most part it's easy just cancel prime. We still use it on occasion but paying for shipping makes you really think about the value of what you're buying.

Turns out we were buying mostly crap we did not need.
