In most places it's fine, in many places it's superior to bottled water, in some places it's a health hazard. Tourists should always do some basic research beforehand.

No actually. But just because a majority of countries have fine tap water doesn't mean that the tap water is fine everywhere. And for a fact I know that the tapwater in Turkey is not safe for drinking.
