I find the liberal need to flatten all morality into "dumb" or "smart" really disgusting.

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mostly agree with you, but any time I have to interact with right-wingers I get reminded that they are indeed unfathomably stupid people. Just no thoughts, head empty and running on vibes and racism.

[–] Bartsbigbugbag@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Stupidity is mostly a social condition, not an inherent trait.

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

oh definitely. I'm not claiming that these people are stupid through inheritance, but instead because they are marinated in the most despicable propaganda

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Especially when you let them go on long enough, they let it slip that being "dumb" or "smart" is more of a genetic trait to them than anything else.

[–] tane2@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It is and white peoples have the worst of it

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 0 points 1 day ago

So true, poor white people have it so hard. sad-boi

Notice how liberals never explain WHY he's stupid, just that he is because.....vibes???

Of course the reason they self censor is because half of their elite liberal cohort actually agree with half or more of Trump's fascist policies

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

He just says it mask off and they don't like that.

Not real sure why anyone would think they had to? I haven't listened to RFK but even if Trump was smart at one point (and I guess he might've been, but just always brash & vulgar?) he is obviously senile, impulsive and emotionally driven to the point of childishness. Elon is undistilled internet talking out of his ass, believes his own hype and has an even chance of being stoned out of his mind.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Liberals don't actually care about senility, impulsiveness or emotionally driven childishness

Otherwise they wouldn't have supported Biden or a dozen other high ranking democrats who fit that description

No, what liberals care about is signaling compliance with the cultural and political bipartisan elite of the United States; policies don't matter to them, fascism is simply an abstract word and their revulsion to Trump's crassness is only born about because he wields it against other elites as supposed to simply targeting the poors

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't disagree, but I don't see that it addresses why they don't talk about what makes him stupid.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because if they ever bring up concrete policies they oppose, they violate the principle of compliance, the American liberal meta is still primarily geared toward bipartisanship and left-punching

Any liberal who articulates a coherent critique is immediately placed under the "troublemaker" and "woke" category, which is a non-starter for mainstream liberalism, in their eyes all critique of Trump has to be unbounded, vague, and preapproved by the institutions these people worship and cannot clash with the military industrial complex in any way

Trump's domestic expression of Nazism gives way to "Russiagate", his racist rants are somehow converted into a generalized "decorum" debate and his foreign Policy is either ignored, praised, or condemned for "not going far enough".....these de-fanged translations are what liberals are referring to when they call him stupid

But even that tepid reformulated nonsense is still too far for many liberals, the short answer is they don't talk about what makes him stupid for the simple reason that it makes politics "real" and brings it outside the cultural mindspace these people inhabit, astonishingly to countless liberals "real politics" reads as "try hard"

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thank you, this is well thought out and worded

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

Im here to help comrade stalin-approval

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I saw that on Bluesky a couple hours ago. "He" nearly always means Trump for libs unless some other rotatable right-wing asshole is a hot topic in the news.

[–] uglyface@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I noticed some of my lib friends refuse to call him Trump and refer to him as "tfg" now as if he is Sauron or something

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

tfg

It will always be funny to me how lib-brained because it's short for "The Former Guy" and not "That Fucking Guy".

He is Sauron or something.

Trump is their bear.

Emphasis mine.

Bear

Etymology

The English word "bear" comes from Old English bera and belongs to a family of names for the bear in Germanic languages, such as Swedish björn, also used as a first name. This form is conventionally said to be related to a Proto-Indo-European word for "brown", so that "bear" would mean "the brown one". However, Ringe notes that while this etymology is semantically plausible, a word meaning "brown" of this form cannot be found in Proto-Indo-European. He suggests instead that "bear" is from the Proto-Indo-European word *ǵʰwḗr- ~ *ǵʰwér "wild animal".

This terminology for the animal originated as a taboo avoidance term: proto-Germanic tribes replaced their original word for bear—arkto—with this euphemistic expression out of fear that speaking the animal's true name might cause it to appear. According to author Ralph Keyes, this is the oldest known euphemism.

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

In Slavic languages the situation is similar, except bear is named "honey-knowing one".

[–] uglyface@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Oh man that is what it stands for? I never bothered to check because fuck that.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago

[–] Leon_Grotsky@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago

Bit idea: someone who's been in a coma for a decade and thinks they are all referring to Joe Lieberman

[–] Maturin@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Also this is like 6 years old so there are only so many “hes” who this could still be applied to without it being called out faster than I did here.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Also this is like 6 years old

I swear the same guy posted a "He's so stupid" thing today on Bluesky.

Edit

I checked. I stand corrected. I confused my libs.

If he was aiming this at Elon, it'd be pretty wild to me. I remember watching with confusion and embarassment while he plugged Tesla on Silicon Valley.

He who must not be referred to explicitly.
