math is hard

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 4 points 17 hours ago

Half of 135% of the time it works 2/3rds of the time.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 hours ago

It's clearly the smaller half .

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 16 hours ago

Republicans have never been good at math, just look at any budget proposal

[–] EarthShipTechIntern@lemm.ee 2 points 22 hours ago

Sounds like some solid Trump math, there

Math performed by Fox News science correspondent.

Reminder: Conservatives can't spell. That's why it 50%.

[–] Substance_P@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Well thay did say "may" so perhaps it's a trick maths question.

American logic in a nutshell

[–] Archangel1313@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

He'll just issue an executive order next week, changing the way fractions work.

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.one 3 points 1 day ago

Orangutan math.

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

From other headlines it's possible they meant 80%. Yes I know. No, there really aren't other options.

[–] richardwonka@lemmy.one 1 points 12 hours ago

Ah, you mean because 80% is half of 145%.

Get it.

[–] Aimeeloulm@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

I read this in my head with Gene Wilders voice as Willy Wonka, gave me a chuckle XD

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

he is gonna try to sell this as China begging for reducing the tariffs lol

“We got em the ropes!”

[we literally ran out of ropes]

[–] selkiesidhe@lemm.ee 17 points 1 day ago

Drumpf looking like a weak ass removed to China. Good job, you nitwit.

[–] Vaie@lemm.ee 32 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Times of India maths like MAGA.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Now that you mention it, this could be a translation error. Like the original word meant "divide" or "slash" and it was mistranslated as "halve".

[–] justOnePersistentKbinPlease@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Reminder that Modi and his party are part of the IDU, an organization dedicated to spreading far right idealogy worldwide.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

only pro-india, but RUSSIA is way more effective and pervasive than india doing it.

[–] Archangel1313@lemm.ee 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And China didn't even need to negotiate with him for it. He's doing this all on his own, just to get them to start taking his calls.

Art of the deal!

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

50% is still too much. Where there's no plan associated with the tariffs, these tariffs are taxation without representation. Shame on Republican Senators and Congressmen for their silence and not speaking out LOUDLY on this. These ridiculous taxes are as much their fault as the Donvict's.

[–] logi@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What do you mean "taxation without representation"? This is the US government taxing the people of the US for buying imported goods. The people who elected said government. We're still solidly in leopards eating faces territory.

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I simply mean that taxes should be implemented by the legislative branch and not the executive branch, as stated in the Constitution and as stated as a grievance in the Declaration of Independence. This was a war cry of the American Revolution that the current majority in Congress have abandoned.

[–] logi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Yeah, fair enough. But the war cry doesn't quite match the cause. This ain't King George. You elected this one

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 day ago

A plurality of voters in our outdated First Past the Post election chose this. This is the primary causation. Too many voters stayed home and too many swing voters wanting change were too easily misled by the Conman. Misled because they didn't understand tariffs, among a bunch of other things (fascism, wokeness, etc.).

But to your point, the States are learning the hard way despite the words and actions of voters like me.

I don't think anyone to depend on trade with a nation as unstable as this. Could it be that Trump has dementia?

[–] ziggurat@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

His father did have Alzheimer's, it run the family, and it is also linked to a poor diet.

Also remember when trump didn't have a series of mini strokes?

Also remember when trump looked like he had mini strokes mid rally several times,?

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I dont think he has enough base brain capacity to degrade to dementia, he is already below that level

Art of the Deal

[–] Mist101@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 5 points 1 day ago

He says that like there'll be an immediate fleet of ships arriving in US ports the following day ...
