Indulge me for the coming delusion, but if we ignore who this is, forget all the reasons we know that we can't trust him, and allow ourselves just a few moments to hope that we could live in such a world.

A world where manual labor is no longer needed, where people can just exist as large mammals are meant to exist. Robots will handle it all and we can just do as we please... and the robots are going to be plentiful because once enough of the process of making a robot becomes automated, the cost of it will go to zero. But to get there it is going to require a ton of money... these robots are going to be way too expensive for people to actually buy them, so investors and governments will help out. The investors will eventually lose everything, but that will put us on the way to having everything we need to be created through completely automated systems.

Of course, there will still be jobs for those who really want them - or more likely, who want them and are good at them - or even more likely, who knows the right people... but if we can get our basic needs taken care of it night not fully end poverty but it would be a step in the right direction.

But, alas... It's Musk saying it so it's only to further enrich himself and won't actually happen.

I'm gonna call major bullshit. He's just riding the high of that insane paycheck (among other things, allegedly).

Nobody having to work and everyone living in a communist utopia? I know a few books that start that way, and those societies are not all roses and sunshine.

Hugo Drax had it all figured out in Moonraker. We just need a higher natural resources per capita ratio, then it all works out easily.

Notice how easy it is to con a con man?

So. Not to change the subject (all that much), but - suppose king d and noel candlehead were casing Ft. Knox instead of "making sure all that gold was there". You know, how it's stored. Soil conditions. Geological structure. etc. Taking measurements, as it were.

Now... supposition.? nay. high probability. notice how fast "gold" was never mentioned again?

This ends with him and musk walking off with the gold in Ft. Knox doesn't it? This will leave America worthless. While his right hand waves around over there with distraction after distraction... THIS is your plan, isn't it? Where to? Greenland? (not yet?) NK? There's a killer beach resort just for you! Country comes with slave labor so you and your kids can turn out knockoffs. F**king perfect, don't you think? And little girls galore! And with all that gold - even putin would let you hang around again - (but be sure to take care around open tenth story windows in buildings you'll take the stairs in.

He's a crook and he's in charge of the biggest piggy bank in the world. And apparently we're all okay with that.

Fuck's sake.

Or just give all your money away to poor people. By my calculations that would be about $25k per poor adult.

So he is investing in armed robots that just kill the poor to end poverty?

That's an extremely hopeful outcome if robots take on jobs.

What I see is robots taking all low education/automation jobs, companies still making consumers pay the same (or more) and making a bigger profit, and compaines only hiring people with over experience and over education (don't forget connections- most people I know get high paying jobs this way). Education itself is in peril as well, due to the use of ai to write papers and complete math problems.
