:Henchman-21-voice:

Back in the old days, Goons were up there with Mooks & Rabble Rousers for top hench-people. They were employed to enact so-called "villainous" schemes, usually concocted by flamboyant persons known as a "villain" or "super-villain." A "Goon Squad" is you, and a group of your fellow goons. Typically attired in a kind of iconic jumpsuit style outfit.

Contemporary porn culture has really done a number on the hench-person business.

I think it's a team that competes in competitive gooning together.

the goon squad were a bunch of chill dipshits that hung out in WoW and EVE online, just generally dicking about and annoying people who took things too seriously. i still exclusively play on rp-pvp servers, because those were the only places we used to play, so that we could annoy RPers and gank tryhards.

the goon squad (or bee squad) exist as a counterweight in gaming, to stand against the tide of wall-punching, keyboard-breaking, slur bros who infest the internet 🥰✨

they were mostly organised from something awful. the one in wow was called Ye Olde Goon Squad, or YOGS. some of them did casting (recording videos) of their playing. they called them YOGSCasts. just in case anyone wonders where that youtube channel started.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Simplest answer is often correct. Its when you goon with the homies.

A group that politely takes turns attacking the protagonist, instead of rudely overwhelming them all at once.

https://goonhub.com/

Something awful users called themselves that and they had an ss13 server by that name although originally it was street level enforcers for mobs that were called goons i guess. Link is not nsfw btw.

Goonstation is still the best SS13 station to date too.

[–] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I haven't played in ages. I wish byond wasn't a pain on linux.

I wish byond wasn't a pain on linux.

TGUI and it's IE11 consequences make me sad everytime someone mentions how much of a pain (read: neigh impossible) it can be to get SS13 to run in Wine.

IIRC BYOND is eventually going to move to Chromium though so hopefully one day you'll be able to play the farting spessman simulator again

I hope that day isn't too far. Well there is ss14 on steam for now but I haven't tried it yet and I heard it doesn't have the same level of depth.
