Today's game is Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. While i was doing my ACIII playthrough, i was watching the LoTR trilogy with my younger siblings. And you know what it reminded me of? This game. It feels like the Arkham Games meet Middle Earth. I never got very far into it though years ago when i first played, so i wanted to try and finish it now.
I'm really liking it, except Tallion's face. It feels off somehow. I don't know what it is but something feels weird about it. For like 75% of the game though i don't look at his face so i can ignore it.
I like the quest it had you do where you help Ratbag. It's a good introduction to the Nemesis system i feel like and it gives you a sort of trial to work the system with.
I really like the stealth, though i wouldn't say Tallion is exactly stealthy. He lands on an Orc screaming. I'm thinking the Orcs are just deaf.
I'm especially fond of the drop attack. Drop onto an enemy and take them out, then clamber back on up. It makes quick work of enemies and is satisfying for me to do.
At one point i went Orc hunting and stormed a fortress. I killed 3 captains and got as far as killing a few enemies before i missed an arrow QTE and got downed. It's kind of surprising how tanky the combat can be. As long as you hit your blocks and dodges you can kind of keep going forever. I was kind of expecting it to be a lot more reliant on stealth.
I'm enjoying the game a lot though. I'm glad i'm finally getting to sit down and play it. Growing up i was a big Tolkien fan and i've heard people praise this game so i'm excited.
