Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

I'm playing Elden Ring, started having succes parrying with a shield, who would have thought!(recently did the rellana fight with the buckler shield and it was a game changer, much more enjoyable like that... )
Anyway. I'm not really excited for a new release, as I usually go with the patient gamer approach.More excited to dive into sekiro, get on with nightreign, etc.

Oh hey, I picked up Sekiro too! Haven't booted it up yet but my own Elden Ring buckler run has gotten me excited for more parrying

Hey I created a parry character in the last 6 weeks or so, fast roll so knives and low equip. Its very fun!
Also just started playing the Nightreign dlc. I haven't played the new characters yet but I like the new content so far.
Do you have a main in NR?
Oh cool! Have you tried the deflecting hardtear? If so how did you like it? I've tried to use it a few times, without success :P, (haven't done elden ring with parrying until now, Shield has been ok But I think I might have been too slow for my hits to register as guard counter with the deflecting tear... Idk, this particular character is not really a parry build, i do have one but it's too early game for that)
I haven't played nightreign that much but Wylder and Executor are the ones I've played the most, both I really like! How about you? Who's your favorite?
I haven't played with the hard tear, I'll have to go try it out.
I'm like a hardcore Executor. I've played other characters remembrances but he's my favorite. I'm pretty good with him, as far as Executors go, I love playing different builds on him, but I think I will like the undertaker class.
I can't get past depth 2 though on Deep of Night so realistically I'm probably mid with him even though ive logged a ton of hours.
He's very fun, great moveset and the high arcane lends itself for cool build possibilities. a bit squishy but, can't have it all. I can't say I'm like good with him yet, but hopefully I'll get there . :P
Definitely squishy lol. I get a lot of value from the the everdark caligo relic which has phys damage negation, frost on weapon and atk + vs. frost: and the augur relic that increases HP. That usually is good survivability for exploring in a solo run, or maps that I'm still learning.
I tend to play like a status tank, face me and I'll take everything you got and dish a little out. Turn away and I'll start freeze bleed ya.
For a third relic, something with seppuku is really fun, I like to hit myself with seppuku 2x-3x, hit my ult, use his L2 special attack right away, then the boss is staggered and youre standing there with a blood blade. This makes stamina up really good with him too.
Mostly I try to stack damage negation passives on pick ups, and I love playing with guard counters too. The undead legion or holy burst with counters is a ridiculous passive ability, but anything that activates when walking is good too, you can just stand there with suncatcher out and getting passive chip damage while tanking enemy hits.
Suncatcher is super underrated as a playstyle, but takes some practice

I'm replaying DS2 as a pyromancer. There isn't actually a starting class for it though, so I rushed to grab the pyro hand and am trying to keep it legit.
There aren't really any soulslikes I'm looking forward to. Code Vein 2 is coming this month, but I won't play it until it's on sale, maybe 1-2 years from now. More likely I'm going to play some old ones that are on the radar as they go on sale. Everything else is kind of looking the same to me, too flashy and expensive.
I completed all the current content on Witchfire, but Lies of P came on sale with the DLC so time to pick that up again (went to Ng++ before the DLC but didn't have my save as I moved from Xbox to Steam). Worth another play through of course.
I'm trying to 100% Dark Souls Remastered while there is a Return to Lothtic event (prefer doing covenants normally over farming from PvE). I coulda swore I already had done so, but that turned out to be the Switch version I got because my previous PC had died and I hadn't yet built the one I have now. It's not going well. I have absolutely NO frame of reference for what SL and weapon upgrade range for each area/boss will get me the most online activity like I do for every other game. ๐ฎโ๐จ
I am SL30 with a +10 weapon, and the only bosses I have available atm are S&O, and Sif (and I guess Pinwheel if you can count that joker as a boss.) I feel like the SL is too low but the weapon might be too high, since I had to pay for the last few levels worth of stones after consuming all the ones you csn find static in the world up to this point.
But also: They're making a Mortal Shell 2? I never could get past the rendering bug in the first one that makes it so all the enmies only start appearing when you're already up in their faces. I even got it on Playstation thinking it was a bug exclusive to PC and had the same issue.
Nightreign, just got into the dlc this week, still exploring. I only play with Executor, except to do remembrances, and I haven't played with the new characters yet
Been having a great time replaying DS3 lately. It's been a pleasant surprise to see how active gank city, spear of the church, etc are.
As for what I'm looking forward to? Probably unannounced FromSoft game (2026)
Dark Souls!
I dropped DS1 for a few months because life got busy, but I was stuck on Four Kings for a frustratingly long time. Thanks to some advice from this community about that boss just being a DPS check, I focused on taking out Seath, and that was the final piece to my build.
See, I've been playing a Sorceror. She's a great character because my game corrupted and ruined my save twice after getting through Blighttown. I was scared of Ornstein and Smough this whole time, and my build ran through them in 2 minutes.
Unbeknownst to me, the Duke's Archives contained everything I needed to get my Magic Balder Side Sword from +5 to +10. There's also a really good grinding spot, so I was able to get Logan's Catalyst before I left as well. I was also able to get DEX to 45 and INT to 40 before I left for that sweet, sweet maximum cast speed. I pretty much shredded the Four Kings after that.
So, I took that momentum to Nito. I used the Ring of Fog and Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring to avoid being detected by the skeletons and whomped his ass. Bed of Chaos has the worst runback in history. Decent boss idea but jeeeeeeeeeez did they not execute that well.
Now it's time to do the DLC and I'm off to kindle the First Flame!
Nightreign, do character remembrance quests. Exploring different characters is fun, currently on Ironeye story, but i probably will stick with someone else. I loved Duchess gameplay, but she's not my best.
Also doing another Silksong walkthrough, trying crests and tools i ignored beforeโthat's challenging and fun. And waiting for the DLC news ofc
I'm still finishing up my RL1 run. Placidusax gets bullied so hard even at level one with the Rusted Anchor. I always fret about Placi, but he doesn't get a chance to get going in phase 2. I refined my Midra strategy and that did go more smoothly than expected. Now, only Godfrey (easy) and Milenia (doable, with the setup I already did) and the two Gods (that could get hairy) remain.
I'm actually not excited for any releases this yearโฆ I'll probaly do something other than endlessly replay ER. I'll look to games I already own: I bought Hollow Knight forever ago and haven't played it yet, and I received Lies of P from the giveaway here (thanks so much). So I will probably play one of theseโฆ Or maybe I'm gonna replay DS2 and/or DS3; I got exiting run ideas for both of those.
