Just for the record, Immich is made by futo, an American organization.

You can self host it on your own hardware for free to keep your files being on American servers, but it IS an American product.

This isn't to shit on futo or immich btw, immich is amazing software and futo is a great org headed by Louis Rossman, the spearhead of the American side of the right to repair movement.

Edit for clarity: I mention this because of the EU flag in the image, not because this specific post is calling it that away from American products.

I use mint on my daily-driver/gaming-rig/mediaserver. I've been a Linux user for 20 years, eventually you just want a normal distro with sane defaults. Mint is wonderful.

Be warned, moving your subscriptions over is a bit of a pain in the as since you have to use Google takeout to download a json list if all your subs, otherwise it's solid and smooth, comes with sponsorblock built in

On your PC, freetube will work as a Youtube frontend, you can point it to an invidious instance to act proxy to youtube if you like.

As an addition: tech from American companies should be replaced. You can't trust it. Android (as it exists in the Google ecosystem) is spyware, same with iOS. If you can't replace those operating systems with your own (which is usually possible but complicated) then it's really not a good idea to have them in your home.

I've never seen anyone praising Russia here. I've seen critical support for the CCP and USSR but that is not the same thing. Critical being the operative word implying that people are recognizing the merits of those governments without offering them full support. Shades of Gray my friend.
