Their predecessor, the American Zionist Council, was forced to register as a foreign agent after their obfuscated ties to the Israeli government were discovered, and they had to dissolve the organization as a result.

It is almost a certainty that AIPAC is an arm of Israeli intelligence just the same. I'm sure they got better with hiding it, and/or they don't need to hide it with our festering corruption.

If I were them, I'd be worried about targeted violence against me and my party more than random spree killings.

I am not worried about dying in a random shooting, generally.

You're right, I don't care about the plight of veterans any more than the plight of anyone else. If anything, I care slightly less because of their culpability in our military misadventures and the trail of death and destruction we've left in our wake.

That said, they should be taken care of. Like anyone else should be taken care of.

Pushing to make trained killers homeless and desperate is definitely a move.

The front-facing pundits, maybe. On the ground, if you strip away the MAGA cult there is some understanding that the wealthy are fucking over everyone else, even if the conclusions drawn from that are confused and distorted. And it's not like we're talking about pacifists disgusted by violence here. "Rich Men North of Richmond" didn't come from nowhere.

Generally no. Bulletproof glass is thick as hell and requires extensive modification to the door, plus it often precludes being able to roll the window down.

Some might opt for kevlar panelling in the door. Anything heavier goes back to "extensive modification" and turns an $80k cruiser into a $400k cruiser.

They buy MRAPs from the DoD on the cheap for armored vehicles.

I seem to recall one of their butthurt targets back in 2024 basically saying "just wait until we have control of the FBI, we're gonna cook your ass."

Man, I thought that was hubris, counting their chickens before they hatched.

In his first term he wanted to restore our nuclear stockpile to peak Cold War levels.

I can imagine two reasons why he might have changed his mind beyond being a feeble old man:

  1. The pressure of toying with World War III actually started to get to him during the Ukraine talks.
  2. He finds the idea of his potential vassal states being nuclear-armed offensive. Guaranteed he will not get rid of a single American warhead, nor will he pressure his employer to get rid of his. Everyone else needs to "vouch for peace" and disarm.

I think you might be a bit confused with how federation works. Just because you made an account on Lemmy.ca doesn't mean everything you see is Canada-centric.

There's a decade or five in between "barely postgraduate" and "belongs in an assisted living facility."

I want people in charge of significant government functions to have significant lived knowledge and experience in the field.

I have a feeling Americans fleeing the consequences of their disaster politics may not receive the warmest welcome in Canada. There's a lot of animosity and a lot of it is warranted.

The leadership of blue states is going to follow the path of civility and norms all the way to hell from what I'm seeing out of them. Who's gonna pick up the phone and rally their National Guard in open rebellion? Gavin Newsom? Phil Murphy?

Most supporters of the Nazis went to the grave believing their cause was just. Whether it was on the battlefield, at the end of a firing squad, or decades later of old age.

They let go of their aspirations and public support because they were forced to, at the end of a gun.
