They had a premium membership thing going, and there were some who posted under an alias.

Hacked by a rival image board, all its moderators, janitors and premier users who made accounts have been doxxed.

The new owners who bought it from Moot in 2016 legitimately never updated the backend... The server was still running on a nine year old version of FreeBSD and PHP.

Aren't there ways to treat the asbestos and prevent the fibers from becoming airborne and posing a serious risk?

Maybe a bit of a cold take, but my guess is he went back to Romania because Romanian or British prison would be preferable to a Salvadoran supermax.

If Putin had any desire to conquer Switzerland, all I'll say is good luck. They're:

  • Heavily fortified, with hundreds of bunkers dotting the countryside
  • Highly mountainous, which would heavily slow down a ground invasion.
  • One of the few states to still practice mandatory military service.
  • Pretty lax with gun ownership, to the point where citizens have a statutory duty to bear arms in the event of an invasion.
  • A substantial player in the banking sector with many oligarchs using their service. Any freeze they'd put on Russian assets would likely go above and beyond what NATO and the EU managed, just because of how synonymous their banks are with the wealthy. They would probably send the Russian economy into freefall long before they could even get anywhere near Zurich.
  • Surrounded from all sides by NATO and EU member states, and would likely have plenty of time to prepare their own forces in the unlikely event that Russia mounts a full-scale invasion and takes over the rest of Europe.

Look at it this way, I paid £3,290 per year in tuition fees to attend university back when I went. The price of tuition has since nearly trebled to over £9k.

If I paid £9k per year for online courses and was denied the student experience of actually attending a university campus (as many teenagers who went to uni during COVID had to), I'd be fucking livid!

Again, depends on why. If there's documented evidence that you were fired for say... refusing to ignore safety laws.

Novelty/troll accounts. I've seen a lot of them pop up on Reddit over the years. The most infamous one I remember was one called Gradual_****** (yes, the n-word) that would type out ordinary replies that would gradually switch to ebonics.

Reasons that are fine to mention: Last job was temporary, I was made redundant.

Reasons that aren't fine to mention: I quit due to overwhelming stress, I was fired for capability/gross misconduct reasons (unless it was an unfair dismissal which you successfully challenged in court and have the documentation to back it up.)

98SE, 2000, XP (Service Pack 3) and 7 were Windows at their peak.

Windows 8 and 8.1 were screwed by Microsoft's insistence at creating a more mobile-friendly OS, when the Metro menu was just bad for the desktop user experience. A lot of disgruntled 8/8.1 users did flock to 10 because having the Start menu back was seen as a compromise to having forced telemetry tracking in your OS.

As for Windows 11, it's getting super shit. Recall AI is being baked into the OS, which will effectively allow Microsoft to snoop and capture data on your computer activity. They claim to not capture sensitive info like bank details or credit card numbers, but I think that's been proven wrong.

Also, 11 is hardly an upgrade feature-wise, yet requires a significantly beefier PC, and was released at a time when the world was still going through a significant semiconductor shortage.

The only real hurdle for widespread Linux adoption is anti-cheat support. That, and either getting Linux versions of industry standard software (Microsoft 365, Adobe CS, 3DS Max, etc) or decent support through Wine/Proton.

Jack Black announced on Instagram that he's cancelled the rest of the Tenacious D world tour and placed future projects on hiatus.

This happened after his bandmate Kyle Gass sparked controversy by commenting on the recent Donald Trump assassination attempt.

At their recent Sydney show, Kyle Gass was given a birthday cake and asked to make a wish for his 64th birthday, to which he said "Don't miss Trump next time."

In his later statement, Black said he was "blindsided" by his bandmate's comment and condemned any calls for political violence.
