"Hoarding" was just another example of American media blaming individuals for systemic problems. There are always a few idiots, but what actually happened was a breakdown in supply chains.

Same thing happens every time it snows. Stores have enough stock for X people to buy TP. When the whole neighborhood decides to stock up at the same time, they run out.

Companies used to train workers, now they just complain that workers aren't pre-trained by some magical process. (And millennials are old enough that we've forgotten how dumb we were in our 20s.)

This is a reasonable reply to a nonsense statement. Signal is plenty secure for us and whatever we need to do with it. It is not secure enough, nor authorized, for classified information.

Republicans don't understand "soft power" in any way. They think you guys are "freeloading" off of us without any understanding that you're our best customers.

The US will never come back from this.

Your fundamental misunderstanding is that "militia" is a euphemism for "right wing domestic terrorist organization". You won't find them on Lemmy. There are a few small armed leftist organizations, but they wouldn't call themselves militias and their mission is defending their communities. They understand that our government has always been tyrannical and a few guys with guns will just get themselves killed.

Don't believe right wingers. (You can be forgiven for not knowing these were fringe right wing idiots. Media coverage tends to obscure that part.) They say they're against government tyranny, but really they just hate brown people. (They meant the "tyranny" of having to sit at the same lunch counter as [slurs].) They love what is going on now.

I don't think the person above meant anything by it, but if we're just discussing grammar: if I say something is "my idea" that does suggest that I thought of it. It is reasonable to read the sentence that way, and Americans do have a tendency to reflexively think we are exceptional.

Both readings are perfectly cromulent.

They have enough money that they think it will shield them from Republican policies. For the most part, they are actually correct. As stupid and self hating as they are, they are "one of the good ones" to their "friends", and selling out everyone like them isn't really a problem for them.

People like to paint Log Cabin Republicans as dumb, but the truth is that they're actually more evil and selfish.
